New Poster Released

My signature image, "The Freedom of the Hills" is now available as an open-edition poster. This shot has always represented the essence of the outdoor experience to me. Printed on 100# lustre stock, this reproduction features the photograph and a subtle typographic treatment. A black border compliments the image, and allows for framing in a standard 18 x 24" frame.

The image was shot in the Canadian Rockies, crossing Numa Pass on the Rockwall trail, in Kootenay National Park. My hiking companions and I reached this saddle between Numa Peak and Mt. Foster late in the afternoon and decided to climb the flank of Mt. Foster for a better look at our destination, Floe Lake. We'd been backpacking for three days, and Floe Lake was our final night along the trail. One of my hiking buddies went back to the trail, and stood on the shadow cast by Mt. Foster. The large dune-like mound behind him is actually the first hill of Numa Peak -- a tremendous dome of scree, above the treeline. Looking back the way we came, we could see the mountains of the Rockwall stretching for 40 miles, all the way to Mt. Assiniboine. The larches were turning yellow, and the setting sun cast its warm glow against the bulk of Numa Peak.

As an open edition reproduction, this poster makes the image available as an inexpensive alternative to the original print, for gifting, or decorating a casual space.
